The building of the Arena was built in the 1880 – ies of the XIX century and has long been used for dressage and drill cadets. Part of the building now occupied by the Institute of language, literature and arts, is hosting a Fund manuscripts reading room. In the autumn of 2009 "Manege" received the status of the Kreml exhibition hall in October there was opened the first exhibition "Russia,XX century in photographs".
The Kreml exhibition hall "Manege" is located near the clock tower. Outside it stretched from East to West gray one-storeyed building with a porch overlooking the only street of the Kreml – the passage of Sheinkman. The interior of the hall is spacious and bright, with symmetrical rows of windows. The location of the "Arena" in the way of tourist flow, integrity of internal volume determined its use as an exhibition site.
After the first exhibition "Russia. XX century in photographs" from the collections of the Moscow house of photography, in "Manege" it has been a few exhibitions, widely covered in the press: an exhibition of old greeting Christmas cards and Christmas decorations "1001 nights Christmas toys", an exhibition of illustrations by artist Daniel Fay on the poems of the poet Airat Bik- Bulatov under the name of "Art for art's sake", personal exhibition of the famous Kazan photographer and master of landscape pictures Evgenia Kanaeva "Solar plexus". In addition to exhibitions in "Manege" hosts international conferences, seminars; Christmas activities for children, balls.
The Directorate of the Museum – reserve "the Kazan Kreml" plans to further develop the "arena" as one of the most attractive exhibition venues in the city of Kazan.
